A group of overweight rodents recently competed in Texas Parks and Wildlife’s inaugural “Fat Squirrel Week.” The competition aimed to crown the most obese squirrel across all of the Texas state parks. “Chunkosaurus Rex” was proclaimed the winner after a bracket-style competition took place using social media likes as votes. With some holiday sales starting this weekend after Halloween, a new study by the University of Cambridge reveals that there’s no real need for people to invest in 4K or 8K TVs since the human eye can’t detect all the extra pixels. The research suggests that a 2K TV is more than enough for most households. Higher resolutions may only be beneficial for specialized uses like professional monitors or very close viewing distances. Films in the category include “The Sixth Sense,” “Seven Samurai,” “Seven,” and the sixth and seventh Harry Potter movies. Young people have been using the phrase so often that some classrooms have banned it.

Carving pumpkins could lead to costly plumbing repairs. Plumbers caution against washing pumpkin waste down the drain. “Pumpkin pulp might look harmless, but it’s a sticky, stringy mess that can cause damage once it’s in your pipes. The fibrous strands and seeds don’t dissolve in water and instead, they can clump together, harden and stick to the sides of your pipes, trapping other debris and eventually causing a blockage.” Unblocking a clogged kitchen drain could cost up to $400. Prevention is simple – use a sink waste strainer and dispose of pumpkin waste properly.

A study found sleeping with a nightlight on could be bad for your heart if you’re over 40.  People with the darkest bedrooms have the lowest risk of heart attack and stroke.  People who sleep with a nightlight . . . or even the TV on . . . have a 20% higher risk.
