Happy Juneteenth!  A poll for it found one in eight Americans have still never heard of it, and only 62% know what it’s about.  Congress made it a federal holiday in 2021 to commemorate the end of slavery.  The last slaves in Galveston, Texas were freed 160 years ago today, on June 19th, 1865.

Amazon Prime Day is now FOUR days.  It was originally one when they started doing it in 2015.  They made it two days in 2017, and now it’s four.  Why not just go with “Amazon Prime WEEK” at this point?

The Food Standards Agency is warning parents about the hidden dangers of giving young children slushies. Health experts warn that the ice-cold drinks can cause spasms and difficulty breathing due to their low temperatures. With Summer starting tomorrow, parents are being advised to closely monitor their children when they drink slushies

Papa John’s has created limited edition dough stress balls. The balls resemble dough and are available for a limited time. Only 150 have been made. 

Nike is set to revive their translucent toe box trend from the early 2000s. The new Air Force 1 Low sneakers will feature icy blue panels and a translucent panel on top of the toes 

If there was a fully functioning city in Antarctica, 28% of people would consider living there.  Another 12% would, but “only in the summer.” 

Restaurants are now adding a controversial “Living Wage Fee” to bills. The fee, added to a diner’s check, is meant to provide a living wage to staff. Many customers are expressing frustration, feeling it’s a hidden charge. Some are calling for higher prices over surprise fees. One restaurant’s receipt read , “Living Wage Fee of 18% Added to Each Dine-In Check. This Fee Goes Directly to Staff Payroll and Provides a Living Wage to Our Team. If You Choose to Tip, Tips Are Pooled Amongst the Entire Team. Thank You!”
