Carrie Underwood showed up to a local church in Nashville and blew everyone away with a few Christmas songs. Here she is singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”.
Next year, the Grand Ole Opry will be turning 100. (When asked for the SECRET to its longevity, the Opry said the usual: Positive thinking, never getting married, a daily shot of whiskey, and a Mediterranean diet.) Naturally, there will be plenty of celebrations . . . including a special series of “Opry at the Ryman” shows, beginning on January 3rd with a showcase from the Opry’s longest-tenured member, 87-year-old Bill Anderson. Other special tributes will include: Kelsea Ballerini, Ashley McBryde, Lainey Wilson, Henry Cho, Gary Mule Deer, and Steve Wariner. (For the latest, you can follow along at Opry100.com.)
Courteney Cox is officially returning for “Scream 7”.
10 months after losing him to cancer, Toby Keith just went Gold and Platinum again. Two songs got Gold certified, “Trailerhood” and “Cryin’ for Me”. And two went Platinum, “Gold Love Her” and “American Ride”. His whole catalog has seen a boost since he passed away from cancer in February at the age of 62. The RIAA honored him this week with four more certifications, two Gold Records and two Platinum. His album “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” also went FOUR-times Platinum earlier this year. So he may be gone, but he’s far from forgotten.
Back in May, the Nashville Metro Council denied Morgan Wallen’s new bar a permit application for an outdoor sign with his name on it. But now seven months later, after a vote of 30 to 1, it’s been approved.
(Here’s a picture of what the sign will look like.)
The “New York Post“ created a list of Christmas movies with each zodiac sign in mind. Here’s which movie you should watch, based on your sign, and a short explanation:
Gwen Stefani tells Showbiz Cheat Sheet that she has a favorite Blake Shelton song. “He’s done so much music. There’s a song called ‘Mine Would Be You.’ I love that. I was like, ‘God, that song’s so good.’ But there’s so many good ones. He’s written some amazing songs. He wrote a song about me, [and] it was really fun to have someone write a song ‘cause I’ve written so many songs about people. But then to have one written about you is pretty exciting.”
Lainey Wilson tells Rolling Stone magazine that she stays grounded by spending time with her family. “My family keeps me rooted. No matter where I am in the world, I always make time to call home and catch up. It’s what keeps me sane in this crazy life.”
The Sun says Mariah Carey’s brother is suing her for defamation, alleging she lied about him selling drugs. Oprah Winfrey may have to provide evidence in court regarding the case. Morgan Carey claims Mariah’s accusations in her memoir have damaged his reputation. Mariah is set to give a deposition on the claims made in her book next year.
Martha Stewart tells Talk Shop Live that she plans on going overboard with Christmas tree decorations this year. “I like to have at least two trees per room. So the porch gets two, the green room gets four, the hallway gets one, and outside, lots of them outside, too. I go to specialty holiday stores that pop up here and there, and I add to my collection. I have a vast collection of holiday ornaments, as you can imagine, and I sometimes feel like I’m crazy to buy anything else, but I do, every year.”
