Colin Jost is allegedly being courted as Ken Jennings’ Jeopardy! Replacement. A source says, “The ratings for Jeopardy! have been very hit or miss, so of course they’re looking to make some changes. The most important thing to understand with the franchise right now is that Colin’s hosting efforts on Pop Culture Jeopardy! represent a major creative and business win for the studio, and it’s working out better than anybody anticipated.
Will Smith once had a spooky hotel encounter where a ghost tampered with his friend’s phone. Will says, “I once had to emergency check out of a hotel because of a ghost. This was probably 27 years ago. The ghost urinated in my friend’s toilet. And cleared all of his messages from his phone… It was the Lanesborough Hotel in London. We assumed it was British. But it was scary enough for us to check out of the hotel.”
The new Avatar movie, ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’, is over three hours long and is expected to be longer than ‘’The Way of Water’’ which was 3 hours and 12 minutes long.
Nicolas Cage appears in a new Western called “Gunslingers”, where he speaks in a really weird voice. Nothing new for him, I realize. He has a Southern accent, and his voice is really raspy, like his throat is super dry. (Check out a clip here.) “Gunslingers” also stars Stephen Dorff, Heather Graham, and Sylvester Stallone’s daughter Scarlet . . . and it actually looks like a good movie. (Check out the trailer here.)
Megan Moroney just won the Billboard Women in Music “Rule Breaker of the Year”. And the speech she gave was really funny, because that’s actually not who she is in real life at all. Here’s what she said in her acceptance speech: “This is so cool. When I found out I was getting the Rule Breaker Award, I thought it was kinda funny. Because in real life, I am an avid rule follower. I stole a piece of gum when I was ten from a ballpark and I still think about it.” She went on to thank her team and everyone that helped her get to where she is today. (You can watch the speech, here.)
Blake Shelton surprised his opening act Drake Milligan at a show in Indiana . . . and had him come back out so they could perform a duet. They did the classic George Strait hit “All My Ex’s Live in Texas”. (Drake posted video, and there’s more, here.)
Michelle Williams gave birth to her third child with her husband Thomas Kail. She also has an 18-year-old daughter with the late Heath Ledger.
Tom Cruise honored Val Kilmer at CinemaCon yesterday in Las Vegas. Quote, “I can’t tell you how much I admired his work and him as a human being, how grateful and honored I was that he joined ‘Top Gun’ and came back.” After the moment of silence, Tom added, quote, “Thank you Val. I wish you well on your next journey. Thank you all for doing that. I know he appreciates it.”
Olivia Munn thinks the upcoming Blue Origin space flight with Katy Perry and Gayle King is “glutinous”.
O.G. country fans aren’t happy after Morgan Wallen revealed he turned Keith Whitley’s “Miami, My Amy“ into a RAP song. Online sleuths figured out he was doing something with it after a track called “Miami” popped up on a screen behind him on “SNL”. He just sat down with Theo Von this week and said he took Keith’s 1985 hit and made it a little more “rap style.” (Here’s the clip.)
The Grand Ole Opry’s 100th celebration went down last month and it was full of awesome performances from a wide variety of country stars. But there was one person’s absence that was definitely felt. And that was Jelly Roll. Apparently, he was supposed to perform with Ashley McBryde to sing “Jackson” . . . but he was replaced at the last minute by Post Malone.
Florida Georgia Line still has over 10 million monthly listeners on Spotify, even though they broke up in 2022. Here are some country stars that they’re still beating: Cody Johnson has 8.7 million . . . and George Strait and Alan Jackson both have eight million monthly listeners. Did you have any idea people still listened to Florida Georgia Line this much? To be fair, the most streamed country song of all-time on Spotify is “Meant to Be” by Bebe Rexha featuring FGL.
A teaser for the new “Naked Gun” movie starring Liam Neeson dropped yesterday, and it includes a great jab at O.J. Simpson, who appeared in the original three movies. Original director David Zucker didn’t like the clip. It ends with a hilarious . . . and surprisingly blunt . . . reference to O.J. Simpson, who played Nordberg in the originals. (You can watch it here.)
