The Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Yankees in a thrilling come-from-behind Game 5 last night in New York. They won the series 4-1. The Yankees were up 5 to nothing; before an error-filled meltdown in the fifth inning allowed the Dodgers to tie the game and go on to win 7 to 6.

Halloween prices have surged over the past 50 years, with candy going from a dollar in 1973 to $10 today. In 1974, a kids’ costume cost $2, while now it can be nearly $70. People are expected to spend over $50 each this year on Halloween. 

Dental surgeons are urging children NOT to eat suckers and sticky Halloween candies to avoid tooth decay.  And they’re asking the public to consider giving trick or treaters stickers and Play-Doh instead of candy. 

Candied onions are trending ahead of Halloween. The trend started at farmers markets and has now spread to social media. Amateur chefs are caramelizing and then candying the onions. People love the smell of the candied onions and are giving them great reviews

M&M’s has introduced a new flavor called Toasty Holiday Peanut.  The roasted peanuts are infused with cinnamon, vanilla, spiced sugar, and caramel. Fans are raving about the new candy, with one calling it the “best of the limited edition flavors game.” 

Campbell’s is releasing holiday candles that smell like Jalapeño Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Everything Bagel-Seasoned Mashed Potatoes, Green Bean Casserole and Apple, Fennel & Herb Stuffing. The candles will be available on CAMP’s website starting on November 18th. They cost $30

General Mills is reintroducing Twinkles cereal. A 1960s classic, the sweetened corn stars have a vanilla and butter cookie taste and will be sold for $4.93.

A poll for National Sandwich Day this Sunday found America’s favorite sandwich is the humble grilled cheese.  Chicken sandwiches are next, followed by turkey, ham, and tuna.  On top of that the average American eats six sandwiches a week. 

A new law went into effect this week that requires airlines to issue actual refunds.  If your flight gets canceled or significantly delayed, they have to refund your money if that’s what you want.  They can’t just do vouchers anymore.
