According to the latest survey, Wyoming leads with 37.3 reports per 100,000 residents, making it the most haunted state in America according to 2024 and 2025 data. The top ten most haunted states, all with high rates of paranormal encounters, are Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, Maine, Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia, Iowa, and Nebraska. These rankings are based not only on the sheer number of sightings but also the number of documented haunted places in each state.
