Scott Pelley Speaks His Mind… Then Loses His Job
Scott Pelley has been FIRED from CBS, after telling off his new bosses during a meeting on Monday. Scott had been a correspondent on “60 Minutes” since 2004, and he anchored the “CBS Evening News” from 2011 to 2017. His career with CBS began in 1989. During Monday’s meeting, Pelley confronted Nick Bilton, the new executive producer of “60 Minutes” . . . telling him his qualifications for the job were “slender”. (Burn!) He also complained about Bari Weiss, the new editor-in-chief of CBS News. He told Bilton that Weiss is MURDERING ’60 Minutes’. He added, quote, “She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it and is doing exactly that.” Bilton says Pelley was fired “for cause,” after he tried and failed to find common ground with him. He also accused Pelley of “hijacking” Monday’s meeting to disparage him with, quote, “remarkable incivility and contempt.”
Jennifer Lopez and Brett Goldstein shutdown rumors that they’re dating in an awkward exchange on yesterday’s “Today” show. Rumors started after J-Lo named Brett as her best onscreen kiss in a previous interview. They star together in the romantic comedy, “Office Romance”, which comes out Friday on Netflix. Savannah Guthrie confronted them about the rumors and J-Lo responded, quote, “There’s never a time when I’m seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don’t try to put me with the person.” But that wasn’t enough for Savannah. She said, quote, “OK, but I’ll just say, because I’m me and you know me, that was not an answer.” So J-Lo responded, quote, “That was not an answer? It was an answer! . . . It happens all the time. Doesn’t make it true.” But Savannah still couldn’t let it rest. She asked AGAIN, quote, “OK, so you’re not dating in real life?” J-Lo said, quote, “Not dating” and Brett added, quote, “Correct.” (You can watch the interview here. The dating comments start around 4:07. Is it just me, or does Brett look and sound a little sad to be denying it? Or maybe he’s just embarrassed by how emphatically J-Lo shot it down?)
It’s been 12 years since the first “John Wick” came out, and some guy who claims it was stolen from him has FINALLY gotten around to doing something about it. A writer named J.R. Wicker is suing for at least $10 million, saying “John Wick” is, quote, “strikingly and substantially similar” to a screenplay he wrote called “Blood for Escobar”. Both stories are about a widowed, retired, middle-age assassin who’s reluctantly dragged back into the criminal underworld and goes on a killing spree against an international society of hitmen. Both also start with a home invasion in which the hero’s pet is killed, and include an action sequence at a nightclub. These are just SOME of the similarities listed in the lawsuit. Why did Wicker wait so long to file suit? He claims he only just saw “John Wick” LAST YEAR.
Morgan Wallen poked fun at his broken piano incident in a TikTok. He said, quote, “Hey, I just want you guys to know, that right now, this piano is working. And that’s what they told me last night, too.” He also added in the caption, quote, “Can’t you tell I’m so distraught over my piano.” (You can watch the video here.)
Cody Johnson Says Wrestling Legend Diamond Dallas Page Wishes He Could Have Used One Of His Songs For His Entrance Music … “Diamond Dallas Page is pretty cool. He called me and he was like telling me how if he had heard ‘Doubt Me Now’ back when he was in his heyday. That would have been his walkout song in his wrestling career. And I thought, well, that would have been pretty cool. It’s nice to know though. I mean, that’s pretty out there to hear that. You know, I didn’t think that DDP would like my music.”
TMZ says Taylor Swift isn’t getting married in Rhode Island. Westerly Police Chief Paul Gingerella tells TMZ that neither the town nor the police have been involved with or aware of any weddings involving Taylor and Travis.
The Wall Street Journal says Garth Brooks recently weighed a sale of his music catalog for $2 billion. The plan could let the singer cash out on decades of hit songs. Brooks has built a large catalog and could attract strong interest. No deal has been announced yet.
Netflix is developing a legal drama based on the 1979 Al Pacino movie “And Justice for All”.
The Star says Blake Shelton recently showed his love for Gwen Stefani at No Doubt’s Las Vegas show. A source tells the magazine, “They do have so much mutual respect, and Blake is in awe of Gwen’s talent. The fact that he was front and center, cheering her on, went a long way.”
Megan Moroney was doing a recent interview for Esquire magazine when she said she trains for her tours like an athlete trains for a new season. “Before a tour, I’m singing while walking on a treadmill. I sing while wearing a weighted vest. I have daily sauna sessions and cold tub plunges. I’m like an athlete preparing for a new sports season.”
Corey Kent tells CountryNow.com that going to Ohio State University made him realize that he wanted to be an artist full time. “Coming in to my freshman year, Beta hired me to play at their homecoming event as opener for Dustin Lynch. That concert was also my first real stand as an artist. People saw me as an individual artist rather than apart of the band. If it weren’t for OSU, my band wouldn’t have been able to spread like it has.”
Ella Langley tells CMT that she needed a lot of surgeries on her eyes when she was younger. “I needed several surgeries to build up the muscles that support my eyes. The problem was one would drift and she’d appear to be cross-eyed. It’s kind of brutal honestly. The surgeon described it to me as horse and carriage. When you have two horses, one can’t be going this way and one can’t be going this way. That’s not gonna work. They’ve gotta learn to work together and mine just never did.”
Riley Green tells Entertainment Weekly that he wanted to fight the man who recently threw a smartphone at him during his Melbourne, Australia concert. “There was probably a moment where I thought about diving into the crowd, and I reeled that back a little bit. There’s people in the venue that paid good money to come see me play, and it seems pretty childish for me to let one person ruin it for everybody. I got to be honest: I looked pretty cool with blood running down my neck singing ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died.'”
Taylor Swift was doing a recent interview for Rolling Stone magazine when she said she’s not sure if her cats will be a part of her upcoming wedding. “I mean, they’re my kids so of course I’d like them to be there. But then again, I’m not sure how I’d include them in the wedding ceremony. It’s something Travis and I will have to talk about.”
Entertainment Now says Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds were recently at a cookout where they did a Shooey. Both of them poured foreign beer into a green high top sneaker before drinking from it. Their friends serenaded them with drinking songs
RadarOnline.com says Anne Hathaway is allegedly upset over claims she is a secret mean girl like characters in “The Devil Wears Prada.” A source tells the magazine, “This should be one of the happiest moments of her career. There’s huge excitement around Devil Wears Prada 2, but instead she feels like the negativity is creeping back in all over again and taking some of the shine off it. For a long time, she genuinely felt she’d turned a corner, which is why this latest wave of criticism has been so upsetting. Anne will never forget how brutal things got years ago when people suddenly decided she was fake, so seeing people online pick apart photos of her with Blake Lively at the Met Gala and accusing them both of giving off ‘mean girl energy’ has definitely sent her into a panic.
Mundo Deportivo says ‘’Hawk Tuah Girl’’ Haliey Welch is now offering dating advice to fans for $100 a month. Women’s Day magazine says Hugh Jackman’s girlfriend, Sutton Foster, is allegedly having a hard time dealing with the public fallout between Hugh and his ex-wife. A source says, “Sutton tries to ignore it, but some of the trolls and criticism online get the better of her. She struggles with being branded a ‘homewrecker,’ so does Hugh, but this is a whole new world for Sutton. She’s never been ‘hated’ like this. She loves Hugh, but she was totally naive about what came with that. Nothing could have prepared her.” The source continued, “She worries she could be stuck with this reputation forever, regardless of whether or not she becomes Mrs Jackman.”
RadarOnline.com says martial arts instructor Matt Fiddes, a former bodyguard for Michael Jackson, claims the King of Pop loved Beyoncé and Princess Diana. “He loved Beyoncé. He wanted to marry Beyoncé. Beyoncé or Princess Diana. He told me he would marry Princess Diana in a heartbeat. And they spent hours on the phone together. He would always say, ‘If Beyoncé gives it, then it’s okay.’ And when we heard that she was at a party, we would turn up in the hope that he would catch her. She was a good friend of his. She used to call all the time. But, yeah, he liked Beyoncé, a lot.”
LADbible says martial arts instructor Matt Fiddes, a former bodyguard for Michael Jackson, claims the King of Pop often played the media. “He knew how to play the media and keep relevant. The sticky tape and the tape on his nose and the makeup and the fedora and the mask and the sunglasses… It was all staged. He wanted people to think his nose was collapsing or falling off. It was allergy tape. 90 percent of the time it worked, by putting a mask on his face, or sticky tape on his hands – or tape on his nose was a favourite one. He would say he wanted his life to be the greatest mystery on Earth.”
