In the ’90s, Nintendo ran a more PG operation than Sega.  For example, Nintendo used gray “sweat” in the original “Mortal Kombat”, while Sega had a much gorier version, with red blood.  (Like the arcade game.) Sega’s bloody version of “Mortal Kombat” clobbered Nintendo’s in sales . . . so Nintendo used blood in the sequel.

Honey Nut Cheerios don’t contain any nuts.  They replaced ground almonds with, quote, “natural almond flavor” that comes from ground up peach and apricot pits in 2006.
