Denver was originally awarded the 1976 Winter Olympics, but in 1972, the people of Colorado overwhelmingly voted not to spend tax dollars to have the Games there. The 1976 Winter Olympics ended up in Innsbruck, Austria instead.

Tea bags were invented by accident in 1908.  A salesman in New York sent samples of tea to people in silk bags, and they assumed they were supposed to put the entire bag into the pot.  And the trend caught on.

Darius Rucker wasn’t “Hootie” in Hootie and the Blowfish.  Those were the nicknames of two of his friends in college . . . one had big eyes and looked like an owl (Hootie), and the other one had big cheeks (The Blowfish).
