Pete & Colin’s $280,100 Ferry Is Finally Getting Its Moment
Tiger Woods was sentenced yesterday for driving drunk in Florida. His attorneys made a deal to have the charge reduced to reckless driving and refusal to submit to a chemical test. He was hit with $1,500 in fines, and banned from driving for FIVE YEARS. The big question is: Does the ban include GOLF CARTS? And the answer is: It’s complicated. The judge didn’t mention golf carts, but he said, quote, “There are no exceptions. If you were to drive for any reason at all, you would go immediately back to jail.” After the hearing, Florida State Attorney Thomas Bakkedahl was asked about golf carts, and he said, quote, “Oh my God, that’s a great question . . . we’ll have to look into that, I’ll get back to you.” But he did add that it’s illegal to drive a golf cart on the roads while impaired. Meanwhile, an official with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office in Florida said, quote, “He absolutely can drive a golf cart if the golf course is in a private community.” But she added, quote, “Different jurisdictions have different rules and laws about driving golf carts on public roads, so it could be different everywhere.”
Remember when Pete Davidson and Colin Jost bought a decommissioned Staten Island Ferry for $280,100? That was four years ago. And they still haven’t done a damn thing with it . . . until now. On Thursday, September 17th, it will become a floating comedy club called the Snapple Island Ferry. The boat will host a 60-minute set featuring a lineup of rising comedians . . . along with Colin and Pete. Pete says, quote, “Turning the ferry into a floating comedy club with Snapple makes more sense than anything else we considered and it still doesn’t make much sense. “Either way, we’re giving people a chance to take a break, have a laugh and do something completely ridiculous with us.” Tickets are free, but limited. Batches will be released daily, from today through next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. You can try to grab yours at register.snappleislandferry.com.
The 1985 comedy “Clue” was one of Tim Curry’s best-loved films. And now that he’s gone, it’s time for a little JUSTICE concerning his performance. As you may recall, three different endings were filmed, in which different characters were revealed as the killer. And different endings played in different theaters. But a fourth ending was scrapped, in which Curry, who played the butler, was the perpetrator. And now, some people who made a documentary about “Clue” a few years ago want it released. They say that it was at least partially shot, because there are pictures from when it was filmed. Curry himself once said it was his favorite ending, but it wasn’t released because the filmmakers thought it was too obvious. You know . . . THE BUTLER DID IT. On a more somber note, Curry’s cause of death was revealed yesterday. It was coronary artery disease. The coroner’s report also mentioned a history of stroke and kidney cancer.
