Parker McCollum: Country Music’s Undisputed Gum-Swallowing Champion
You’ve probably heard the old wives’ tale that if you swallow a piece of gum it will remain in your digestive tract for seven years. Parker McCollum recently told “CMT” that he has swallowed every piece of gum he’s ever eaten. He said, “One time I swallowed 46 in one sitting. True story. And [I] feel great . . . Doctor says everything is good.” According to the Mayo Clinic, quote, “If you swallow gum, it’s true that your body can’t digest it . . . But the gum doesn’t stay in your stomach. It moves relatively intact through your digestive system and is excreted in your stool.” So, here’s a fun fact you might not have known: Parker McCollum has pooped out more gum than maybe any country singer ever.
For decades, people blamed Yoko Ono for breaking up the Beatles. But that narrative has been exposed over the years as a myth . . . or at the very least, a huge exaggeration. A new book claims Yoko Ono actually held the Beatles together, at least through “Let It Be” and “Abbey Road”. If not for Yoko, John Lennon may have left before those albums even happened.
Actors who nailed their role so well, no one could compare includes Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow, Mike Myers as Austin Powers, James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Leonard Nimoy as Spock, and Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka.
This is a pretty cool collaboration. Mumford & Sons were performing in New Orleans, and none other than Lainey Wilson joined them onstage. First, they all sang Lainey’s hit, “Things a Man Outta Know”. It was an awesome, stripped-down bluegrass version, and was amazing. But they saved the best for last. Lainey and the band broke into a version of Shania Twain’s “Man! I Feel Like a Woman”, and it brought the house down. (You can listen to the video, here.)
