Netflix Gives Stranger Things a Retro VHS Makeover

It’s officially been 10 years since “Stranger Things” first premiered on Netflix.  And to celebrate, you can watch the first season in a “VHS Special Edition”. Netflix says, quote, “Rewind and relive the first season with a video store vibe that’s glitchy, grainy and gloriously vintage, just like you’d have rented it in 1983.” No, it’s not literally on VHS . . . it’s streaming on Netflix.  But they added, quote, “tracking lines, slight color bleeding, CRT monitor distortion, and that warm, fuzzy audio crackle you’d get from a well-worn tape rented straight from Family Video.” Also, the entire cast returned to look back on the last 10 years for a special video, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Joe Keery, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder.

The trailer for “I Play Rocky” dropped yesterday.  It tells the true story of the making of “Rocky”, and how Sylvester Stallone had to fight to play the main character in his own movie. Not surprisingly, it plays like a “Rocky” movie, but instead of Apollo Creed, the bad guys are the studio heads who don’t want Stallone in the lead role. Anthony Ippolito plays Stallone, and he’s got the voice down. Although he may have laid it on a little too thick.  Not sure it’s gonna be fun to listen to him for a full movie. Check out the trailer.

In his new movie “Mongoose”, Liam Neeson plays an Afghan war hero wrongly accused of murder, who goes on the run to prove his innocence. It feels like “First Blood” meets “Smokey and the Bandit” meets “Fast and Furious” meets, well . . . late-career Liam Neeson. “Mongoose” hits theaters on October 30th. (Neeson just turned 74, by the way.  Granted, I would say he still pulls this character off . . . how much longer will he be able to do it?) (Check out the trailer.)

Riley Green is coming to town, and he says he’s having a really difficult time meeting a girl with this career. He says he’s confined to the back on a bus and said it gets tough to know who you’re meeting for what. Riley also said he’s always surprised which songs fans fights to.  Quote, “It’s always girls.  There’s been a couple videos I’ve seen of people getting in a fight during ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died’.  Or I’ve got a song called ‘Jesus Saves’.” Oh, and he set the record straight that he did NOT have anything to do with Luke Bryan’s “Fish Hunt Golf Drink”.

If you’re wondering how Eric Stonestreet from “Modern Family” scored an invite to Taylor Swift’s wedding, it’s because he’s a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and he’s known Travis Kelce for years.

Whiskey Riff says Post Malone has been added to the list of performers for this Sunday’s World Cup final in East Rutherford, New Jersey.  Malone will perform as the closing act

Country Now says Riley Green has one regret about guest starring on “Marshalls.” He says, “I feel like I didn’t know enough about the character. I was getting the script for that day, and I didn’t know any of the backstory. So when I went and watched it, there were so many things I would’ve done differently if I would’ve known this about the character or that. I would have really enjoyed if I could’ve just lived in that world and filmed for a month.”

Country Now says the Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame has announced its 2026 nominees.  Miranda Lambert, Chris Stapleton and Taylor Swift lead the list.

The Daily Mail says the buyer for Jennifer Lopez’s $61 million Beverly Hills marital home has backed out. The home has 46,000 square feet under air with 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms. Ben Affleck gave up his stake in the house so Jennifer remains stuck with it.

EntertainmentNow says Jennifer Aniston recently completed renovations on the lavish Montecito, California home she bought from Oprah Winfrey. The Mediterranean-style farmhouse is on a large estate with a pool and new outdoor spaces. Jennifer paid $15 million for the home

IGN says “The Batman: Part 2”, starring Robert Pattinson, has been delayed again and is now set to be released in 2028. The delay is tied to a cascade of release-date changes at Warner Bros., as the sale to Paramount drags on.

People magazine says Timothée Chalamet was allegedly starstruck after meeting the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders at a World Cup soccer game. The star attended the France – Spain match. Chalamet greeted the group and hugged several cheerleaders.  He even joked for the camera that he was starstruck.

RadarOnline.com says Nicole Richie is allegedly urging her ailing dad Lionel Richie to slow down after his recent health scare.  A source says, “Nicole nags him all the time to take things a little easier, but now that this has happened, she’s getting a lot tougher. She wants to know exactly what the doctors are saying, what tests he needs and what the plan is going forward because the big fear is that Lionel has been brushing off warning signs for longer than anyone realized. Lionel has always lived his life in the fast lane, and he’s certainly not a guy who is ready to accept his age. He fights it tooth and nail. He’s still working at a crazy pace, and he’s not exactly a health nut either. He enjoys good food, good wine and having a good time, and the people around him are terrified it’s all finally catching up with him.”

The NY Post says Ben Affleck was seen stepping out of a brand new Cadillac Celestiq. Cadillac’s Celestiq is hand-built and has a 55-inch dashboard screen and a roof that can be set to different levels of transparency. The car’s base price is $340,000. Options push the total well past $400,000.

Jake Paul tells BroBible that he wants to try out as a wide receiver for the NFL. “I do have NFL aspirations after boxing. I want to play slot receiver, and so I think to get that experience, college first would be good so I could walk onto the Stanford team. I’m being serious. The idea of it happened today. I was originally thinking I’ll just go straight to the Cleveland Browns or Dallas Cowboys, but they’re probably going to want to see me play first. So, it might be better if I start off in college and have a little bit of an advantage over the younger, not as big kids before going into the NFL.”

The Globe says Hugh Jackman and  Sutton Foster are allegedly at odds over moving to Australia. He wants her to relocate, but she refuses to leave New York. A source says, “Sutton’s idea that they could just keep being this cozy little Broadway couple and work on their theatre projects indefinitely is proving to be a fantasy. Hugh is always going to be a citizen of the world and he’s always going to need regular check-ins back in Australia. The bottom line is, Hugh knows he needs a partner who can really keep up with him and his schedule, without friction, the way his ex Deb was able to do for so many years and Sutton still has a lot of commitments that keep her from doing that.”
