While vacationing in Florida, 11-year-old Josie Law of Michigan spotted something in the sand—it turned out to be a message in a bottle tossed into the ocean seven years ago by two fifth-grade students in Hawaii. It was part of a school science project tracking ocean currents. Inside was a note asking the finder to write back. Josie did—and now she’s connected with the boys who sent it.
