“My Grade Is a One-Plus…Pea Soup & Oatmeal Prop…& Is It Lizard Eye Or Mustard Seed?!”

The first school to use a letter grade system like we have today was Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts in 1887. (Before letter grades, there really wasn’t one standard system. Schools commonly used written evaluations, class rankings, or numerical scores, and some colleges simply grouped students into categories like excellent, good, satisfactory, or poor.)

The projectile vomit in “The Exorcist” was soup from a famous California restaurant called Pea Soup Andersen’s, mixed with oatmeal.  Their soup looked more like vomit on camera than Campbell’s.  (The restaurant closed in 2024.)

The witches in “Macbeth” didn’t really use “eye of newt.”  That was just the ancient term for mustard seeds.
