Judge Judy’s Retiring From TV… But Not Really
Judith Sheindlin, a.k.a. Judge Judy, is retiring this fall . . . sorta. She’s stepping away from being in front of the camera when her final episode of “Judy Justice” airs on October 22nd. Quote, “I have a lot of other things of interest . . . I don’t want to do hair and makeup anymore, but I still want my message to get out there.” Judy will still be busy though. She’s developing an adult animated series called “Judyverse” based on the viral A.I. baby Judge Judy videos. She’s also producing her son Adam Levy’s syndicated court show (Trailer) called “Adam’s Law”, which premieres today. (You can see where it’ll be available in your local area here.) CBS will celebrate the 30th anniversary of “Judge Judy” with a special next Tuesday, the 22nd, called “Judge Judy: Unfiltered, Unforgettable”. Judy turns 84 next month.
The airport authority in Nashville just voted unanimously to change the name of the airport in honor of Dolly Parton. A final name has not yet been announced, although Dolly Parton International has been floated. (It has a nice ring to it.) They’re also still debating whether the airport will keep its BNA airport code.
Dolly Parton’s first posthumous release is here. It’s a cover of the 1964 song, “Bound to Ride” by The Stanley Brothers. She recorded it back in 2022 at her home studio, and she’s backed by the First Ladies of Bluegrass. It’s part of the all-star tribute album called “Where the Soul Never Dies: Celebrating 80 Years of The Stanley Brothers” that comes out October 16th. In other news, a lady in Ohio named Jolenna thinks she’s the little girl that inspired Dolly to name her song “Jolene”. (Not to be confused with the woman who inspired the character of Jolene.) I actually think my friend Jolene is the inspiration, she is beautiful and married to my friend, Doug, and if anyone could inspire a song, it’s pretty much her.
Christian Bale may play a hero on screen, but he’s making a real-life difference, too. Bale helped create Together California, a foster care village in Palmdale designed to keep siblings together. At the opening, Bale said the goal is to turn “heartbreak and pain into love and hope and a sense of future.”
Ella Langley’s song “Choosin’ Texas” keeps rewriting the record books. It just spent its 21st week at #1 on Billboard’s Streaming Songs chart. This breaks a tie with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ hit “Old Town Road” to become the second-longest-running #1 in chart history. Now the ONLY song still ahead of Ella is Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” . . . which has 26 weeks at #1. (“Choosin’ Texas” only needs one more week to catch “All I Want for Christmas Is You”on the Billboard Hot 100. And it’s #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and Country Streaming Songs chart, too.)
Jimmy Kimmel tells Nerdist that Stephen Colbert will be his guest tomorrow night. “We will be back in a very big way on Tuesday night, after the Emmys with the one and only Stephen Colbert, who will making his return to late-night television.” This marks Colbert’s first late-night appearance since his CBS show went off the air in May. Kimmel also said he might let Colbert sit behind his desk.

Shania Twain tells US Weekly that she wants to record with Harry Styles. “That would definitely be a dream for me to get in the studio with him and just pump out some ideas … whatever would come of it. … But he’s a very busy person right now. It’ll take a while to probably nail him down with his schedule. Those times when you’re full-time touring, in a full-time touring mode, it’s very difficult to fit in recording time, but yeah, I think that’s in the future for us.”
Yahoo News says Taylor Swift is reportedly facing fan pressure to release photos or details from her wedding to Travis Kelce. The renewed interest follows the couple’s recent Manhattan date night, which reportedly marked their first date night as newlyweds. There has been no official photo from inside their July 3 wedding ceremony. A source says, “She doesn’t owe her fans a glimpse into that day until she’s ready to share it.”
StyleCaster says comedian Nikki Glaser recently discussed attending Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding during her Las Vegas residency. Glaser is a major Swift fan and was surprised to receive an invitation. She said she did not personally know Swift or Kelce before the invitation arrived. A source tells the website, “Taylor is furious with Nikki, but the worst part is that it’s true. There were famous people at that wedding who barely knew Taylor, and some had never met her. Nikki simply said publicly what everyone was whispering privately. Some guests still do not have Swift’s phone number.”
Wayne FM says Nashville International Airport officials have approved the first formal step toward naming the airport after Dolly Parton. They voted unanimously, 6-0, to begin work on the change. Officials say the final name has not been decided, and the airport is expected to keep its BNA code.
Bailey Zimmerman tells Music Connection magazine that he almost pursued modern rock music instead of country. “When I was younger, my mom was a rocker, so we didn’t listen to country music. We listened to Linkin Park, Tesla, Hinder, Nickelback, Three Days Grace, Three Doors Down… There are so many. Puddle of Mudd, Velvet Revolver… I’d do it, too. I had a song called “Change” that was basically Nickelback. I could do rock stuff. It’s just tough on your voice!”
John Morgan tells People magazine that his father used to make him play right-handed baseball, even though he is a natural left hander. “My dad made me play right-handed because he wanted me to play shortstop. I was a decent player. I’ve always told people that if I wasn’t doing this, I would probably be coaching somewhere. I really fell in love with coaching.”

Naughty But Nice says Prince Harry allegedly wants to buy Princess Diana’s famous “revenge dress” for Meghan Markle. The black Christina Stambolian dress is scheduled to be auctioned off on December 9th, with an estimated price of $300,000. Diana wore the dress on the same day then-Prince Charles publicly admitted his infidelity. A source tells the website, “Harry sees that dress as a symbol of his mother taking back her power. Diana wore it to clap back at Charles, Camilla and an institution that had made her miserable. In Harry’s mind, Meghan understands that story better than almost anyone. He doesn’t want it disappearing into a collector’s closet,” says the source. “He believes it should stay connected to Diana and belong to Meghan.”
