Heroic But Heartbreaking: Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s Final Moments
Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s death could have been even MORE tragic, because he was swimming with his 8-year-old daughter when he drowned. They got caught in a rip current in Costa Rica, but a surfer was able to save Malcolm’s daughter. They gave Malcolm CPR for 45 minutes, but it was no use. He was pronounced dead at the scene. (You can read a little more about them here.)
Man, it seems like EVERYBODY is feeling the loss of Ozzy Osbourne. Even Kermit the Frog gave him his props. He also mentioned Ozzy’s duet with Miss Piggy on a cover of “Born to Be Wild“ for the “Kermit Unpigged” album. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga and her dancers took their final bow to “Crazy Train“ during the Mayhem Ball show in San Francisco Tuesday night . . . and Chris Martin played Black Sabbath’s “Changes“ in Nashville. And the New England Patriots thanked him for letting them use “Crazy Train” as their entrance theme. (Here he is performing it live in 2005.)
Naughty But Nice says Ozzy Osbourne’s final wish was to walk daughter Kelly Osbourne down the aisle. A source says, “He said, ‘That’s the moment I want more than anything. To give her away.’ He lit up when he saw the ring. It gave him peace. But he still hoped he’d be there to walk her down the aisle.”
“Wednesday” is getting a third season, and maybe a spinoff . . . not to mention her own American Girl doll. Season 2 of the Jenna Ortega series debuts on August 6th.
Here’s one for the family drama files—Hollywood edition! Tyler Perry hired his aunt because she needed money, then fired her because she wouldn’t come to work. Perry said it was a tough but necessary decision. “If you don’t respect the business,” he said, “I can’t let you stay just because you’re family.” Tough love, Tyler style!
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s $100 million deal with Netflix expires later this year, and will reportedly not be renewed. The impending end of the deal will reportedly not impact the rollout of season 2 of Markle’s lifestyle docuseries With Love, Meghan, which premiered in March and ran for eight episodes, featuring celebrity guests like Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer joining the Duchess of Sussex at her home and in her kitchen.
Russell Dickerson tells US Weekly magazine that he and partner Kailey prioritize simple “coffee dates” together when they can escape with help from a nanny. “We’ve been out on the road together…so we really get quality time together—have a little coffee date, have a little dinner date, whatever it is. That’s really been a huge part recently of prioritizing intentionally.”
The Daily Mail says the doctor who supplied Matthew Perry with ketamine, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, has pleaded guilty to his involvement in Perry’s death. Plasencia admitted providing Perry with ketamine and called him “a moron.” He is expected to return to court on December 3rd for sentencing and is facing up to 10 years in federal prison. Plasencia was facing a potential 40-year prison sentence had he not taken a plea deal.
Scotty McCreery tells Southern Living magazine that he’s discovered a newfound passion for cooking family meals. “I do love to cook. I keep the cast iron out in the kitchen, and we try all sorts of meals. It’s something that used to intimidate me, probably even just five years ago, but I’ve started to be like, ‘You know, let me try this and try that.’”
The Robb Report says Ellen DeGeneres is selling her Cotswolds, England estate for $30 million after living there for a month. The 43-acre property has a modernized farmhouse with six bedrooms, an indoor pool, and a guest cottage. DeGeneres is selling the estate because she needs more space for her horses.
Travis Kelce recently compared his relationship with Taylor Swift to Julia Roberts’ 1990 rom com “Pretty Woman”. Parade Magazine quotes him as saying, “When I met Julia — it felt like we were the same person, so cool. She spoke to me in this movie. I think we need to make Pretty Man. And we need to have a CEO billionaire woman be so high class that she doesn’t know where she’s going. She doesn’t know how to drive a car. I’m wearing nothing but a tie when Taylor comes home. All right. Now it’s all I’m doing. I’m just the NFL stripper.’’
Riley Green tells Country Now that when it comes to dating, he doesn’t think he’s improved. “I don’t think I’ve gotten any better at any of that. I’ve got a lot of opportunity in my career right now, and certainly, if I can put a lot of my time and energy into writin’ country songs and tourin’ and bein’ on the road, maybe one of these days I’ll have a little time to settle down and get more than just a dog.’’
Radar Online claims Johnny Depp is allegedly hoping for a serious romance with Angelina Jolie, as they continue secret dates. A source says, “They’ve managed to get together in London and L.A. and even without anyone catching on because they’re both very discreet and go to great efforts to stay under the radar. They’ll meet up in private suites at posh dinner spots and low-key clubs and play it cool, but it’s stuck in this flirty see-saw zone for years. Johnny tells friends he would love to settle into a real romance with Angie – he’s carried a torch for her for years. Angie is the kind of woman a man likes. She ticks the incredibly sensual-and-highly-respected-and-well-read, that type of wishlist.”
