Dolly Parton has officially been laid to rest with a private funeral with immediate family on Friday.  Her niece Lainey Parton confirmed the news with a tribute of photos with her “Aunt Granny”. Quote, “This is a really hard post for me to make.  I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words . . . “Because she couldn’t have kids of her own, she always made us feel like we were hers.  She loved us that way, and I’ll forever be grateful for that. Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum also shared her official obituary. In other Dolly news, Tennessee Governor Bill Lee and Nashville International Airport announced Friday that they intend to rename the airport in her honor. The Grand Ole Opry paid tribute to Dolly on Saturday with the entire night in her honor.  There were performances from Carly Pearce, Jelly Roll, Dolly’s niece Jada Star, and Channing Wilson. Of course, other country stars have been paying tribute to the legend over the weekend. Brad Paisley performed “When I Get Where I’m Going” . . . Vince Gill did a cover of “I Will Always Love You” . . . Zach Top did “Here You Come Again”

Nashville Airport To Be Renamed After Dolly Parton: People magazine says Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee is renaming the Nashville International Airport the Dolly Parton International Airport. The announcement came on Friday three days after Parton died at age 80.  Parton’s team was touched by the idea. A Change.org petition started by Tennessee residents Lydia Popovich and Dan Dion had more than 150,000 signatures

The NY Post says Tom Cruise honored late NASCAR star Kyle Busch while announcing that a “Days of Thunder” sequel is in the works. Cruise sat beside an empty chair reserved as a tribute to Busch during a NASCAR Cup Series event at Daytona International Speedway. Photographers captured Cruise patting the empty seat during the drivers meeting. Busch was a two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.  Anne Hathaway has joined the cast and will play a race team owner and engineer.  The movie opens on June 2nd, 2028.

Some parents have a hard time watching their kids grow up and leave home.  Some go through a serious grieving process.  Michelle Obama?  Not so much. She has no problem with her daughters Sasha and Malia being on their own. On her “IMO” podcast, she said, quote, “Barack cried when they went to college and I was like, ‘Bye.’  Now, Friday nights aren’t wrecked with terror and fear about, ‘Where are you, where are you?'” Michelle also had plenty of quality time with the girls while they were growing up and knows them “inside and out.” And she’s proud of how they’ve grown since they’ve been on their own.

Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas O’Connell got married Saturday in Montecito, California. His bride is YouTuber Claudia Sulewski, an actress and founder of Cyklar skincare. And the officiant was . . . Billie herself. TMZ was able to snag some pictures and video.  They showed Billie in a dress that was more low-cut and form-fitting than her usual wardrobe. There were also plenty of celebrity guests, including Justin and Hailey Bieber . . . Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard . . . Jason Sudeikis . . . Rachel Sennott . . . and the one and only musical superstar Rebecca Black.

The Daily Mail says Randy Quaid thinks Nicole Kidman should co-star with Tom Cruise in the planned Days of Thunder sequel instead of Anne Hathaway. He is quoted as saying, “The sexy older chick for Tom in this film needs to be Nicole. That’s the casting that would sell the idea.” Quaid played Tim Daland in the original 1990 film, while Kidman played Dr. Claire Lewicki.  Hathaway is pregnant with her third child and plans to have the baby before making the movie.

Kacey Musgraves performed in Boston on Friday and after she sang “Golden Hour”, a small fire started on a scaffolding above the stage from the pyrotechnics. She joked, quote, “I have way too much hairspray to be standing under that [crap].” Kacey also paid tribute to Dolly Parton. She sang covers of “Rainbow” and “Here You Come Again”.

The Daily Jang says Kenan Thompson will temporarily replace Simon Cowell as a guest judge on America’s Got Talent. He will join Mel B, Howie Mandel, and Sofía Vergara at the judges’ table. Cowell stepped away from filming to undergo what was  described as routine back surgery. The procedure is connected to continuing problems following his 2020 electric-bike crash and an earlier six-hour operation.  Cowell is expected to miss several weeks of filming while he recovers.

Complex magazine says Eddie Murphy’s son, Myles Murphy, recently made a surprise stand-up comedy appearance at New York City’s West Side Comedy Club. The 33-year-old has quietly been performing stand-up for less than a year. He has already appeared at several Los Angeles comedy clubs. A comedy club attendee said, “He got up, did his set, and he’s really good.”

Radar Online says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may buy a $16 million U.K. estate. The asking price is higher than the $14 million the couple paid for their Montecito, California home in 2020. They plan to keep the Montecito property if they move abroad. Local reaction is mixed, with some residents excited by the possibility and others concerned about the attention the couple will bring.

The Daily Mail says Jennifer Aniston and  hypnotist Jim Curtis allegedly have no plans to marry. The couple celebrated their one-year dating anniversary after first being linked during a vacation in Majorca last Summer.  An insider says, “They’re still very, very happy. But they have no intention of ever getting married. Jen swears she will never get married again. She never ever questions where she stands with him. He has zero hesitation about letting her know that he is crazy about her and is totally devoted.’

Just Jared says Taylor Lautner and his wife Taylor, aka Tay, may name their baby girl Taylor. The couple currently has three to five names under consideration.  Tay says they probably would have named the baby Taylor with the nickname TJ if they had been expecting a boy. The couple announced in June that they are expecting a girl. Taylor and Tay began dating in 2018, became engaged in 2021 and married in November 2022. Their friends distinguish them by calling them “Boy Tay” and “Girl Tay.”

Deadline Hollywood says Tom Hardy has finally released his debut rap album under the name Frankie Pulitzer. The 15-track album is titled ”Czarface Meets Frankie Pulitzer”. Hardy made the album in collaboration with Czarface. It features appearances from rappers Busta Rhymes, Method Man and EL-P.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark tells Marca that Taylor Swift likes her new Nike “Friendship Bracelet” Caitlin 1 sneakers. The off-white and blush-colored shoes have fuzzy laces with colorful beads. They also come with charms that allow buyers to personalize their pairs. Clark’s pair features charms with her initials and jersey number, “CC 22.” The design was inspired by the friendship bracelets fans exchanged during Swift’s Eras Tour. Clark attended two of Swift’s Indianapolis concerts in November 2024. Swift later sent her Eras Tour merchandise and a note describing Clark as “inspiring to watch from afar.”

Taylor Swift Gives Injured Mom $50,000: Wealth of Geeks says Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to a Connecticut mother who was hit by a car after pushing a teenager out of its path.  Ashley Taunton stopped along Interstate 95 in Rhode Island after a vehicle carrying three teenagers hydroplaned during a rainstorm. Another vehicle lost control on the wet highway. Taunton pushed 19-year-old Vinny O’Rourke out of the way before she was struck.  Taunton later learned Vinny was the son of her friend of 14 years. She spent 30 days in the hospital and underwent three surgeries. Doctors say her recovery could take up to a year.  Swift made Taunton’s fundraiser’s largest individual donation and wrote, “Wishing you the best recovery possible and sending love to your family!” Taunton  pulled her car over “just to breathe” after seeing the donation and later wrote “sobbing with so much gratitude.”

Snoop Dogg’s Ice Cream Brand Hiring Taste Tester: Dairy Foods says Snoop Dogg’s ice cream brand Dr. Bombay is hiring its first official Ice Cream Taste Tester. The job is remote and open to applicants worldwide.  The position runs for three months and pays $10,000 per month.

Country Living says a Manalapan, New Jersey farm has a Dolly Parton-themed corn maze opening on Sept. 19th. The maze honors Dolly, who passed away last Tuesday. Trinity Stockel says they decided on the theme back in February.

“Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is still #1 at the box office.  “Coyote vs. Acme”, the movie you almost didn’t get to see, finished second.

E! News says Garth Brooks’ daughter,  Allie Colleen Brooks, recently shared her “greatest fear” about her father while paying tribute to Dolly Parton. The 30-year-old  Instagrammed,  “My greatest fear in life is the day my Dad loses his life and I have to see the world mourn a man they never knew the way I knew him.” She offered Parton’s family and friends her condolences and thanked them for sharing her with the world.  Allie called mourning Parton “a beautiful privilege” and wrote, “To grieve is to know you loved deeply and fully.” Some commenters considered the post insensitive, including one who thought Allie was suggesting only Parton’s family could be sad. Allie responded, “I’m not telling anyone else how to grieve. I’m just acknowledging the family. You do you babe.” She later wrote on Instagram that she did not understand why people were angry with her.

Whiskey Riff says Ella Langley honored Dolly Parton by performing “Jolene” during her show in Auburn, Alabama. Langley told the crowd, “Tonight’s show didn’t feel right without doing something like this.” She also shared an Instagram tribute thanking Parton for paving the way for women in country music. Langley wrote, “You paved the way for so many to be brave. Thank you for being unafraid to show your most authentic self.”

The Cincinnati Enquirer says Tim McGraw was recently performing in Cincinnati when he gifted one of his guitars to a young boy. The boy cared more about Luke Combs than the guitar. The moment drew cheers from the crowd.

Wealth of Geeks says Ella Langley used Doja Cat’s own words for a playful response after the rapper admitted she did not know who she was. Langley captioned a collection of her Dandelion Tour photos and videos with “Ella Langley? What is that?” That echoed Doja’s response when asked if she was an “Ella’s Fella” during an interview. Doja later listened to “Choosin’ Texas” and said the song was not her style, but called Ella’s voice “very pretty” and the melody catchy. She also said the song was not bad simply because she did not personally enjoy it. “Choosin’ Texas” is spending its 19th week at number #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart

Parade magazine says Keith Urban surprised Savannah Bananas fans by walking onto the field with a guitar during the sixth inning at Gillette Stadium. Urban had been watching from the stands before taking the field during a break in play. He performed “Long Hot Summer” as players danced along. Fans had not expected Urban and called the performance “a cinematic masterpiece.”

And yes, it’s real.  It’s the story of how Hooters was founded, based on the actual events. It follows two friends from Iowa, named Ted and Lenny.  Ted is trying to find a woman named Diane from a spring break commercial . . . so he convinces Lenny to take a road trip with him to Clearwater Beach, Florida. Diane would later become the first Hooters Girl. The movie is being described as a “hilarious buddy comedy”, an “inspiring biopic” and a “wild journey” based on a “crazy idea.” The director says, quote, “It’s not at all what people will be expecting, and it’s mostly true!”

Taylor Swift donated $50,000 to a GoFundMe for a heroic mom named Ashley Taunton, who sustained life-threatening injuries from helping a group of teenagers on the highway during a rainstorm back in July. Ashley suffered multiple fractured ribs, a ruptured diaphragm, internal bleeding, and injuries to her liver and spleen.  She’s undergone two major surgeries and has a long road of recovery ahead. As of last night, the GoFundMe has raised over $89,000.
