French, Palindrome & Salt Water

“Main Maine Foreign Tongue…Rotary Tiller Backward & Forward…& Salt-less Saltwater”

The U.S. state that has the most people speaking French at home is . . . Maine.  3.9% of households in Maine speak French, versus 3.5% in Louisiana.

The longest single palindrome in the English language is “rotavator” . . . another name for a rotary tiller for breaking and aerating soil.

Salt water taffy isn’t made with any seawater.  It got its name when a candy store in Atlantic City was flooded in 1883 and the owner offered “salt water taffy” for sale.  People liked the name, so it stuck.
