Charleston Senior Gets Prom Surprise After Health Scare
Just days before prom, Austin Taylor, a high school senior from Charleston, West Virginia, collapsed at home and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors found multiple tick bites and diagnosed him with a rare heart infection caused by Lyme disease—a serious and scary turn for any teen.
But Austin wasn’t alone. While helping him recover, his care team at the hospital went above and beyond. They made sure he didn’t miss this milestone moment, covering the cost of his prom ticket, his suit, and even his dinner.
Thanks to their kindness, Austin made it to prom—smiling, suited up, and surrounded by love. “They really made me feel cared for,” he said.
