“Pac-Man” was designed to appeal to women and couples because arcades at the time were dominated by shooting games. The designer said, “Think about things women like . . . fashion, fortune-telling, food, or dating boyfriends.  So I decided to theme the game around “eating” . . . after eating dinner, women like to have dessert.”  (FWIW:  He’s Japanese.)
