Netflix held its upfront presentation yesterday, and the big news was probably the announcement of “Grown Ups 3”.  Netflix also announced a reality show about Nick Cannon navigating life as the father of 12 kids by six different mothers.  It’s coming next winter. The synopsis says, quote, “From million-dollar meetings to midnight diaper runs, think Kardashian-level glam meets relatable, messy modern parenting.  This is fatherhood, fame, and family.” Then there’s Will Ferrell’s new golf comedy, “The Hawk”, which drops on July 16.  Netflix premiered the first trailer yesterday.

This is a really weird and tumultuous time in human history, and people are looking for ways to ground themselves and get through it. Ashley Judd had an interesting idea:  For her 58th birthday, she threw herself a 12th birthday party. Ashley posted a carousel of pictures and video showing how her inner 12-year-old celebrated:  Singing, square dancing, reading affirmations, and lip-synching Hall & Oates into a hairbrush.  (This was 1979 after all.) Interestingly, Ashley doesn’t remember ANY of her childhood birthdays, but she vividly remembers that time in her life.  And she saw this party as a chance to reclaim what was missing back then. Quote, “[At home] there was no parent (or adult) supporting, nurturing, guiding and reinforcing my learning, delighting in, or protecting that little girl.”

He also had similar reactions to Rachel WeiszRebecca Ferguson, and . . . Andrew Garfield.

Reba McEntire says her wedding to Rex Linn will be low-key at their ranch in Tennessee.  They don’t have a date set, but the ceremony will include one important part of their lives:  their animals. Quote, “We’re going to have to have dogs there. I have two granddogs, Watson and Belle, so they may be the ring bearers or something like that. “But we have to have our animals in there. Studio chiefs want to move fast.  Anne Hathaway is allegedly holding back.  Insiders say Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt want to return.  A source says, “This isn’t about money for Anne. She’s incredibly protective of her career and very aware of how quickly audiences can turn when they feel someone is overexposed. That experience left a lasting mark on her. She remembers exactly what it felt like when the public suddenly decided they’d had enough. She never wants to go through that again. Anne keeps asking the same question: ‘Why does this story need to exist now?’ If nobody can answer that creatively, she’s not interested.”

The process is described as ongoing and not a quick fix.  Jen is not walking away from the marriage, at least for now.  A source says, “One of the most difficult consequences for Dianna Russini has been the loss of her relationship with Mike Vrabel, whom she reportedly loved. Her husband has felt sidelined for a long time, and this controversy might be what finally pushes things to a breaking point. At the same time, he’s dealing with the embarrassment, still cares about her, and would want to find some way to fix things if he can. The emasculation has taken a toll, though.”

In fact, before the accident, he was following her around like a puppy dog and ready to propose to her. He’s incredibly grateful that she’s sticking by him during this nightmare, but now the thinking is that he’ll want to pare things down and pump the brakes” once he gets out of rehab.”

They were very touchy, feely, and always laughing, and everyone suspected they were hooking up. During the wrap party, they were all over each other during the dinner and drinks with the rest of the cast. They had a lot of fun while shooting; it was just what Jen needed after Ben Affleck. A redemption tour, big emotions, big money — the industry loves this kind of drama. Usher is cautious. He respects what they had, but he’s not risking his reputation for anyone. The concept is still just talk, but industry folks note that talk can turn into tickets — fast. “It would be huge — and hugely divisive. Redemption to some. Outrage to others.”

People underestimated Don Vito Corleone and Michael Corleone at their peril. The same will be true for Connie Corleone.”
