A 10-year-old girl in Texas is being hailed a hero after saving her 7-year-old brother from choking. The two were playing in their backyard when he started eating candy while jumping on the trampoline — and suddenly couldn’t breathe. Without panicking, his sister remembered learning the Heimlich maneuver from a safety video at school. She wrapped her arms around him and gave a few quick thrusts until the candy popped out and he could breathe again. Their parents say she stayed calm the entire time — and credit her quick thinking with saving his life.
