The University of Wisconsin System's Board of Regents has approved asking Governor Scott Walker for 95 million in additional tax dollars in the next state budget. That includes money for a number of projects at two local universities.
The board of regents also approved a resolution supporting a shared arts facility as part of Eau Claire's proposed Confluence Project, but did not include any money in the UW budget for the project. The group will instead seek up to 25 million dollars in a a non-state-agency grant from the state. The regents did approve nearly 33 million dollars for renovations of both wings of UW Eau Claire's Towers residence hall, as well as a similar amount for UW Stout to be used for repairs to Bowman Hall to shore up the clock tower, and renovations to North residence hall, and Merle Price Commons.
