It looks like donors have stepped up to save a small-town movie theater.
The owners of the Stanley Theater launched a kickstarter online fundraising campaign last month, hoping to raise 60,000 dollars to purchase digital projection equipment. as movie companies are ending the distribution of movies on traditional film. According to the kickstarter website, the campaign has reached its goal in donor pledges. 444 people made pledges, with the largest single donation at 2,500 dollars. The Eslinger family has owned and operated the theater for 45 years, and the 5 children carry on the tradition, volunteering their time to keep the theater open most every weekend. The online campaign remains active until July 21st. On the website, the family says any funds raised beyond the 60,000 will go toward upgraded bathrooms and theater seats.
