  • Oscar Pistorius-the "Blade Runner" who made history last year as the first paralympian to compete in the able-bodied Olympics-was charged with murder Thursday after his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp, was found shot dead inside his home in South Africa.
  • Peruvian archeologists have discovered a temple believed to be about 5,000 years old in a valley just north of Lima. It could be the oldest site ever discovered in the world.
  • Steve Martin is a dad! The 67-year-old actor and his 41-year-old wife welcomed a baby into the world in December, keeping the whole thing a secret.
  • A wealthy donor says that Bill Clinton told him that Hillary will run for president in 2016.
  • Iceland is considering a complete ban on pornography.
  • Lady Gaga says the pain in her right hip had become too much to bear. She's been hiding it from her staff and says she's had a history of "borderline lupus."
  • There's a movie being made about the making of the movie "Mary Poppins," with Tom Hanks and Emma Thompson... but no Julie Andrews to be seen anywhere.

  • On the day that a new season of "Survivor" got underway, the announcement was made that Jeff Probst's talk show was canceled after only one season.

  • NBA ALL-STARS - Sunday is the NBA All-Star Game in Houston.
  • SLACKING OFF AT WORK? WHY IT'S A GOOD THING _ Bosses who notice an employee's performance drop in one aspect of the job shouldn't immediately think the employee is slacking off. A study led by a University of Toronto professor discovered that in many cases the employee has just shifted and refocused his efforts on a different set of tasks, which should be considered a positive sign of adaptability.
  • NEIGHBOR FEUD ESCALATES _ In Minnesota, a woman could end up in prison for ten years after signing a neighbor up for two dozen magazine subscriptions. The animosity between neighbors began when one neighbor turned another in to the homeowners association for letting her dog relieve itself on her lawn. 
  • KATE GOSSELIN & KENDRA WILKINSON TO TRADE PLACES _ Kate Gosselin will appear in the season premiere of Celebrity Wife Swap on ABC. Kate will trade places with Playmate and former Dancing with the Stars contender Kendra Wilkinson. Kate and Kendra will swap "lifestyles, children and homes (but not bedrooms), for one week. The episode will air February 26.
  • Did you hear about the guy in France who's car kept accelerating until it was doing 125 mph? The guy had to drive it from France to Belgium until it ran out of gas. [I know what you're thinking: There's a French car that can do 125?] 
  • So your husband didn't exactly go all out for you on Valentine's Day this year. Well, there may be a very bad reason for that. According to a new poll, cheating men spend more than twice as much on their mistresses as on their wives for Valentine's Day!
  • A pet store in Maine just held their ninth annual MAKE OUT WITH YOUR DOG contest.  And this year's winner was a woman who kissed her dog for 45.8 seconds.  You can either kiss your dog tongue-on-tongue, or he can just go tongue-on-face.  Either way, the longest make-out wins a $75 gift certificate.
  • Valentine's Day breakups don't get much ROUGHER than this.  Yesterday, in England, a woman bought an ad at the gas station deli where her boyfriend eats lunch.  And it said, quote, "I'm leaving you . . . sorry to do this on Valentine's Day."
  • This is a pretty clever Valentine's Day promotion from IKEA.  Yesterday, IKEA Australia ran an ad offering a FREE CRIB to anyone who has a baby on November 14th.  Which happens to be exactly NINE MONTHS after Valentine's Day. 
  • After almost five days, that stranded Carnival Cruise ship was finally towed back into port in Mobile, Alabama last night.  There were 3,141 passengers and 1,086 crew members on board . . . 4,227 people total.  They've been adrift in the Gulf of Mexico since Sunday, when a fire in the engine room left them stranded with limited power, leaning to one side, and full of sloshing human waste.
